About

Studying God's Word Line by Line

The Precepts Bible study method seeks to study God’s Word “line by line,” and “precept upon precept,” (Isa. 28:13) which is another way of saying expositionally, the verse-by-verse study of entire books of the Bible.

The Precepts approach is inductive, meaning that it intends, not just to teach about the Bible, but teach how to study the Bible, without the use of commentaries or sermons. It is rigorous, but doable, demanding, but reasonable.

What to Expect

Rigorous Study Throughout the Week

The Precepts curriculum includes a workbook with daily readings and exercises on the assigned passage, which are required for the Precepts course and necessary to develop mature Bible study habits.

Advanced Tools for Bible Study

Precepts teaches the inductive method, or the exegetical approach to Bible study. Taking part in these classes will give you the tips and tools you need to take your Bible study to the next level.

Class Discussion and Teaching

Precepts is not an individual process, it includes a weekly class where an instructor leads the group through discussion of their assigments, followed by a teaching video giving further exposition of the passage.

Multiple classes of limited size are available at different times throughout the week. All classes, however, study through the same biblical book at the same pace together. Because of the demands of the class and limited space size, walk-ins are not accepted, and students must pre-register to attend. Open enrollment occurs at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester.
