William Carey Benjamin | Right after calling Abram and pledging to make him a great nation, bless him, and give his descendants the land, a severe famine in the Promised Land occurs. Abram descends to Egypt, urges Sarai to lie about their marriage, and compromises to save himself, putting God’s covenant promise in jeopardy. Yet Yahweh sovereignly intervenes with plagues on Pharaoh, protects Sarai, restores Abram, and brings him back to worship in the land. What does it reveal about God’s character when our faith falters? What does it mean for us when trials tempt us to take shortcuts or doubt His provision? Join us in this expositional study of Genesis 12:10–13:4 to see Yahweh’s faithfulness despite man’s faithlessness.
